US Marshall, multiple murderer, Sheriff of Ellis County, Ka., Marshall of Abilene,

Ka., and holder of the most famous hand in poker. When he was shot dead by

Jack McCall on August 2, 1876, Wild Bill was holding two black aces and two black eights

- ever after known as 'Deadman's Hand'.
